WHAT IS WORSHIP?
"Worship is the believers response of all that they are-mind, emotions, will, body - to all that God is, all that He says, and all that He does" (Warren Wiersbe).
"Worship is the submission of all our nature to God. It is the quickening of conscience by His holiness; the nourishment of mind with His truth; the purifying of imagination by His beauty; the opening of the heart to His love, the surrender of will to His purpose - and all of this gathered up in adoration, the most selfless emotion of which our nature is capable and therefore the chief remedy for that self-centeredness which is our original sin and the source of all actual sin" (William Temple). See Psalm 29:2; 1 Chronicles 16:29
THE KEY to worshipping God is for all of us to remember that while true worship certainly benefits the worshipper, worship, first and foremost is intended to be all about God, not about us. Worship is a God thing! In worship, we value, cherish, and prize Him above everyone and everything else (Philippians 1:20,21).
At SouthPointe, we earnestly strive to get worship right. Not that we will ever be perfect in our worship, but our hearts desire is to get it as close to perfect as humanly possible. At the same time, we readily admit that when this life is over, we will only be beginning to understand what it is all about. When you come to SouthPointe, you will find a group of people who love to sing and worship God passionately because we are dedicated to making the name of Jesus Christ great in our generation. This is why He created us; this is what we are called to do. Week after week, you will find us worshipping, lifting our hands and our voices to magnify Him, who alone is worthy of all praise. At SouthPointe, there is nothing better, there is nothing we love doing more together than worshipping our God.
One of the most important things we do at SouthPointe Church is to encourage our people to make it a priority to come together every week to experience the awesome power and presence of God in our midst. We invite all of you to come and be a part of what God is doing in the lives of people just like you.
