Ron McCurry is the Senior Pastor of SouthPointe Church responsible for teaching and preaching. As a second generation pastor, he has a lifetime of experience in church and other Christian ministry.

Pastor Ron attended the former Antioch Bible College and Seminary and graduated from Whitefield Theological Seminary with a Bachelor of Divinity degree. His passion is to know God and help others to know God as He is revealed in Scripture. He also believes that for a church to be blessed by God, the Pastor must teach and preach the Word of God with clarity and accuracy in a way that honors and respects the truth of Scripture, and at the same time presents the truth in a way that is culurally relevant. We believe the best way to do that is to teach and preach subject by subject, book by book, passage by passage, and verse by verse in such a way that others will see and experience the beauty of knowing Christ.

The driving force in Ron's life is the church! Being the son of a pastor has given him a unique perspective of the church. Growing up in the church has allowed him to see the good, the bad, the ugly, and everything in between. Having experienced all these different things during his life, Ron deeply wanted to pastor a church made up of people whose lives had been changed by the power of God and who desired to be Biblically literate, doctrinally sound, spiritually sensitive, and culturally relevant to our times without compromising the truth and integrity of God's Word. Within this framework, SouthPointe Church was started.

Pastor Ron began his ministry at age nineteen in 1973 in the Atlanta, Georgia area while working alongside his father who was the pastor of a non-denominational church at the time. After serving and volunteering in every capacity possible to learn the ropes and acquire as much experience as possible, he became an associate pastor in 1980. Later, in 1988, he continued to serve under the leadership of his father as the Co-Pastor of a Baptist church in Coweta County. Ten years later, he became Senior Pastor of the same Baptist church. Using the foundation he received from serving these churches, Ron believed that it was time for change. After several years of prayer and getting advice from other Godly men, Pastor Ron led the congregation in starting a fresh, new work with a new strategy that would enable the church to widen it's influence in the community in order to reach more people. In March of 2008, SouthPointe Church began.

Ron has been married to his wife Pam for more than 35 years. Pam also serves as Registrar and secretary of Heritage Christian School in Sharpsburg, Georgia. They were blessed with three wonderful children; Joshua, born in 1975; Matthew, born in 1977, and Andrea, born in 1983. After residing in Atlanta, Georgia for most of their lives, a new door of opportunity brought them to Coweta County in 1988. Currently, they reside in Newnan, Georgia.

At age 54, Pastor Ron is more excited about the future than ever before. In a time when so many areas of people's lives are being shaken, and so many things seem to be uncertain, he believes the greatest opportunity for the church to step forward and offer the hope, stability, and assurance of God and His Word is today. The constant message of God's sovereignty and supremacy over all things is what this generation desperately needs.
